Why is Famous Fido’s Celebration of Life Gala so important to our canine and feline residents?
We must maintain the facility for the cats and dogs that reside here, as well as those countless animals whose guardians call here daily in need of resources and solutions for a myriad of issues and situations. We need to maintain and sustain Famous Fido Rescue and Adoption Alliance in order to keep the facility going and continue helping animals. It costs about $30,000 a month to keep the rescue going, and that is before any unexpected catastrophes or vet bills!
Our goal is to raise $250,000 at the 4th Annual Celebration of Life. This will help to sustain Famous Fido for 6-8 months while we set up more events and ways to bring in the funds that are so desperately needed to support the animals that depend on us. At any given time, there are 80-100 animals residing at our Rescue, and the money raised will help with the cost of their food, shelter, and medical care. Our goal and mission is educate the public on a new way of thinking and stop the flow of cats and dogs into shelters, as well as to provide individuals and animals in crisis with the resources and solutions they need. We are also involved in hands-on rescue of those who are considered ‘less adoptable,’ and whose lives are at risk due to age, medical/behavioral issues, or being part of a bonded pair.
A big part of Famous Fido is our learning center. We have 4 programs (CARE, GUARD, HOME, and SPEAK) and the Compassionate Care Act to give people insight on the causes of abandonment and the heartbreakingly high influx of animals ending up in shelters. Intervention counselors are a big help in talking with people so they understand the reality of what happens when they abandon their animal, and so they realize that there are resources and other options.
We can’t meet our goal with out the support of companies and individuals! Through table and ticket sales, silent auction pledges, corporate sponsors, and supportive donations, we can help save lives! We are here to help our community and animals- to be a place for those in need of advice and resources to come for help.
We all agree that too many animals end up in kill and no-kill shelters. This is not the way it should be. It is our job as compassionate humans to be the voice for those who have no voice.
